What happened?
The return of Liga Femenil BBVA is still causing controversy, this time due to the comments made by Valentina Calderón in the pre-match of the game between Atlante and Necaxa corresponding to Jornada 1.
The controversy arose with the word 'colágeno' to refer to the youth of the teams' squads that were debuting in this Apertura 2026 with an Atlante that also made its debut after its incursion into the reigning category.
How was the game?
The blaugrana team arrived in place of Mazatlán. But unlike the Cañoneras in the Guardianes 2020, who won until the third date, ironically also against the Centellas, the Potras debuted with a win.
It was Alexia Villanueva who was the figure of the game, scoring the only goal of Atlante's victory in the High-Performance Center. Unfortunately, it was a win without a crowd, as the board decided to play behind closed doors as the stands were not ready on time for the match.
It was thanks to the collaboration of goalkeeper Daniela Sánchez that Villanueva scored the 1-0 in the second half. After a goalless draw in the first half, in the taking of a free kick behind the middle of the field, Andrea González sent a long service that Alexia headed back to the goal.
Sánchez Mercado was left halfway to come out to cut the center and although she put her hand in, it was not enough to deflect the goal that ended up being incrustated and causing the euphoria among the teammates inside the field.
What does this mean for Necaxa?
The loss in the debut of Liga Femenil 2026 is a hard blow for the Necaxa team, which seeks to establish itself as one of the best teams in the league. The controversy arose with the comments of Valentina Calderón, which did not help to improve the team's morale.
What comes next?
Necaxa will have to return to the field to face their next rival, and we hope they can recover from this loss and continue with their goal of being one of the best teams in the league.
Currently, Necaxa is in 8th position in the Liga MX, with 6 points, 2 wins, 0 draws and 1 loss in 3 games. They have scored 5 goals and received 5 goals, giving them a balance of 0 goal difference. In the standings, they are 1 point behind the leaders Club América.
